We’re young people in Singapore who want a clean, secure energy future, and want everyone to have the facts to discuss it.
Who we are
Youth for Energy Security SG (YES SG) was started in October 2026 by Brandon Korhonen, a 12th-grade student at Stamford American International School who got curious about where our electricity comes from and what our options are for a net-zero future.
We are youth-led: students plan our content and events. Our public events and media contact are led by our adult organisers, including our adult co-founder, Aki Korhonen, and parent supervisor, Eileen Kua. Aki and Eileen supervise the group, supporting safeguarding, privacy and anything involving money or permissions.
What we believe
- Facts first. Every claim on this site links to an official or peer-reviewed source. If we get something wrong, we fix it.
- Respect for everyone. People who disagree with us care about Singapore too. We listen and never attack.
- Study seriously, decide carefully. We support the Government’s careful, safety-first study of nuclear energy. We don’t claim decisions that haven’t been made.
- Young people should have a say. Energy choices made in the next decade will shape the Singapore we grow up in.
Independence
We are independent. We are not affiliated with, or funded by, the Government, any political party, or any energy or nuclear company. We have no funding. Volunteers cover small costs themselves.
